Customer Challenge

When the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) set higher performance benchmarks for energy suppliers to reduce consumers’ bills, a government-owned multi-utility supplying power and water asked Enzen to help transform its operations in readiness.

The AER required the customer, which had become subject to national rather than regional regulatory standards, to reduce overall expenditure by 15% and service interruptions by 18% per year. Improvements were also expected in customer service (by 21%) and health and safety (by 10%).

Deploying the Zen Business Transformation Framework© so successful in the UK, Enzen developed an ambitious business transformation roadmap to achieve the 15% reduction in costs. This was combined with a series of practical tools to improve the client’s long-term performance, without compromising reliability, customer satisfaction or health and safety.

Outcomes delivered

Enzen’s solution has provided the client with a blueprint to find annual savings of more than AUD $30m every year for the next 10 years. Furthermore the customer is now equipped to become an efficient, consumer-focused competitor on the national stage, increasing value to both government and taxpayers.
