Mission: Sustainability, our innovative community partnership with UK schools, has won a Social Impact award for inspiring young people to build a more sustainable world.

The programme was named a winner at the 2022 Energy Innovation Awards in Liverpool, UK, which celebrated the best and brightest talent in the country’s utilities industry.

Judges praised Mission: Sustainability for its creative use of cutting-edge industry knowledge, scalable model and focus on improving science and sustainability literacy in classrooms.

Mission: Sustainability sees Enzen knowledge practitioners share their utilities expertise with pupils aged 8-18 in Birmingham and the West Midlands, home to Enzen’s corporate headquarters.

Launched in 2020 and now in its third consecutive year, the programme has attracted the interest and praise of Andy Street CBE, the Mayor of the West Midlands, who recorded a special message for pupils at the inaugural awards event.

Empowering teachers to innovate

By setting pupils missions themed on real-world energy and water challenges, Mission: Sustainability inspires young people to pursue careers in science and engineering and demonstrates how they can use their creativity to leave a healthier planet for future generations.

The programme has also empowered teachers at schools to develop innovative new learning methods. Through Enzen's support, one secondary school reimagined how electrolysis was taught in its science labs and developed a more efficient way for pupils to use and share experiment kits.

The Energy Innovation Awards also saw Enzen achieve finalist status in the Net Zero Impact, Customer Focus and Best Electricity Innovation categories, a testament to our growing influence in the UK energy sector.

Our 2022 Mission: Sustainability programme is currently underway and you can learn more about it here and by emailing mission.sustainability@enzen.com.
