Enzen Turkey has received international recognition for using digital innovation to address the critical issue of water leakage in Ankara.

The project was supported by the British Embassy International Programme Fund and delivered in collaboration with ASKI, the water utility supplying the Turkish capital Ankara.

Enzen’s solution, developed with group company Enertest, achieved an 80% reduction in leakage, saved 70,000 m3/year of water and reduced carbon emissions by 19 tonnes in its trial area.

Based on narrowband IoT acoustic sensors and cloud technology, the solution will now be introduced to Turkey’s wider water network, where leakage is proving to be a critical and costly challenge for utilities.

ASKI (General Directorate of Ankara Water and Sewerage Administration) is responsible for providing water and wastewater services to six million people in Turkey's capital. Ankara is already water-stressed due to climate change, so improving the sustainability of the city's water network is a priority for municipal authorities.
