If you’re a science teacher at a Birmingham, UK, school looking to inspire pupils with cutting-edge industry knowledge and innovation, you can sign up for Enzen’s Mission: Sustainability 2021 programme now.
Following a successful pilot programme in 2020 which saw schools receive cash prizes for teaching equipment and pupils earn plaudits from Mayor of the West Midlands Andy Street, Enzen is now looking for more primary and secondary schools across Birmingham to take part in the scheme in the latter half of the Spring term between late February and the end of March 2021.
As a global energy and water knowledge enterprise, Enzen is passionate about sharing its sustainability expertise with young people and giving them the opportunity to showcase their talents for science and innovation.
Coinciding with British Science Week in March, Mission: Sustainability will offer science teachers access to resources and knowledge on the theme of improving the quality and sustainability of clean water around the world which they can incorporate into their classroom teaching.
It’s an excellent opportunity to inspire pupils about the importance of sustainability, and show them how Enzen is applying scientific principles and ingenuity to solve real-world challenges.
“The partnership with Enzen transformed the way pupils thought about British Science Week 2020,” said Tonia Robertson-Rogers, Head of STEM at the Lumen Christi Catholic Multi-Academy, which participated in the pilot and whose pupils were celebrated at an online awards featuring Andy Street, the Mayor of the West Midlands.
“It turned out to be the best science week we’d run. It gave us an opportunity to stop, step back, think about how we do things and empower our technicians to innovate.”

Key Stage challenges
Schools will also participate in a series of Mission: Sustainability challenges for Key Stages 2, 3, 4 and 5 – a combination of creative, investigative and scientific tasks to see who are the most enterprising and inspired young ‘change agents’ in Birmingham.
Entries from across the city will be judged by Enzen leaders for their creativity, knowledge and passion. Winning pupils will be invited to an awards ceremony in Summer 2021 to recognise their achievements, with the top performing schools receiving cash prizes to spend on science teaching.
